Is It Just My Imagination?

What's to be made of a picture like this? They look like such a lovely couple don't they? It's one of those pictures which make me weak at the knees but hard in my trousers.

For those of you who don't recognise them, the one on the left is Matt Derbyshire (Blackburn Rovers) and the one on the right is Leighton Baines (Wigan Athletic). This was probably taken during a lull in training prior to the U21 match between England and the Netherlands.

In case you're wondering what my dirty mind has got to featuring two boys under the age of the 21, first of all, the age of consent in the UK is 16 and in any case Matt is 21 (his birthday was on 14th April 1986) and Leighton is 22 (born 11th December 1984) so both are in every way legal for the things which I imagine them doing with each other and I don't mean playing football (although nude football may be a possibility!).

It is curious though, seeing as both are over 21, why they're eligible to play in an U21 match. Perhaps it's some quirky FIFA rule. In any case, I hope to see them in the England senior squad, as I do their U21 teammate, Steven Taylor whom I featured in a previous entry.
